Preparing for Results Day
If you don’t get the results you expected don’t panic, you will see the status of your offers in your UCAS Hub account from the morning of 8 August. You may still be offered a place on your original course choice, even if you didn’t meet all of the conditions of your offer. If you do not meet the entry requirements for your firm and insurance choices, then you will be entered into Clearing.
Understanding Clearing
Clearing is how universities and colleges are able to offer any places they still have on their courses.
From 5 July, we will be accepting applications through Clearing. You can use Clearing if:
- You are applying for the first time after 30 June
- You didn’t receive any offers from your original applications
- You don’t want to accept any of your existing offers
- You didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
- You’ve paid the multiple choice application fee of £27
- You’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in UCAS Hub
You’ll know you’re in Clearing if your UCAS Hub status says ‘You are in Clearing’. If you are holding an offer elsewhere but would like to explore your options in Clearing, you can do so by getting in touch with us. You’ll need to take note of your Clearing number, which you will find on the welcome page and ‘Your choices’ section.
Finding courses in Clearing
To find a suitable course available in Clearing, we would suggest searching the courses available on our website. You can also contact our Student Admissions Service who will be happy to discuss all of the options available to you. Remember, you don’t need to apply for courses similar to those you have applied for previously; there will be lots of different options available to you.
Applying through Clearing
If you’ve found a course that you’re interested in, contact our Student Admissions Service to confirm that you meet the Clearing entry requirements and that we have vacancies for you. We may be able to make an unofficial offer by email or phone and will advise on next steps, which may include an interview.
Once they have confirmed that you should apply, you can refer yourself in your UCAS Hub account by clicking ‘Add Clearing choice’ and completing the course details provided by the university. This means if the university offer you a place, it will show as an automatic acceptance by you on your ‘Choices’ page. You can only add one choice at a time, but if the university doesn’t confirm your place, you’ll be able to add another.
Changing your mind
Holding an offer elsewhere does not mean you can’t explore your Clearing options at RGU. If you contact our Student Admissions Service, we’ll be happy to discuss your options and talk you through the process involved.
Student Accommodation
Don’t worry, if you apply to us using Clearing there is still time to secure your place in student accommodation. Once RGU has confirmed your place you can apply for RGU accommodation online using your student number.
Student Finance
Once you have confirmed your place, you will need to get in touch with your relevant student finance organisation if you are looking to secure a student loan.
