Our Impact

  • DTA3 had a network of 15 university partners across the UK.
  • We recruited 71 fellows (52% women) from 27 different nations.
  • 88% of fellows would like to engage in the DTA3/COFUND programme again.

Completion & Employment

  • The average length of a DTA3 PhD, from enrollment to completion, was 3 years and 7 months (82% of fellows required extensions due to COVID-19).
  • The average duration between finishing the PhD and starting the first employed role was 2 months. 
  • 46% secured jobs before finishing their PhD.
  • 88% of fellows felt ready for employment at the end of their PhD.
  • 60% of fellows now work in academia, with a large proportion also working in industry and non-profit sectors.
  • The average salary of graduated fellows is £30-40K.

 

Outputs during the Project

  • Over 150 academic manuscripts were published by our fellows during their doctoral training.
  • Our fellows have collectively attended over 200 conferences where they gave talks, presented posters, and assisted in conference organisation.
  • Some of the DTA3 fellows had internship and industrial placements with organisations such as Genoinseq, Laboratoire EuroMov and Samad-Power Ltd. 
  • Academic collaborations were fostered with international partners including Karolinska Institute and The University of Oslo. 
  • Public dissemination activities included the "Imagine Festival of Ideas and Politics", and the Art in Science gallery event with research image exhibitions and activities.
  • 41% of supervisors built relationship and collaborations with other institutions through the project.
