Neil joined University Alliance in February 2025 as part of the Doctoral Training Alliance team to support the Horizon Europe 2025 bid for doctoral training programme funding. As Project Manager he works across the DTA and University Alliance partners to secure timely submission of the bid.

He has worked in higher education for over 20 years, in lecturing and senior management roles. Prior to joining University Alliance, Neil worked for the University of Derby where he was Head of Postgraduate Research Delivery Support and led the Doctoral College, leading on all aspects of Postgraduate Research student experience, policy development, training and administrative support across the University.

Neil has a PhD in Freshwater Ecology from the University of Leicester, is a Senior Fellow of the HEA and is a qualified secondary teacher.

Neil works part time (standard workdays Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday).
