Responding to today’s (13/04/2021) update in government guidance for the return of Higher Education students to campus, now to be from 17th May, CEO of University Alliance Vanessa Wilson said:
“On behalf of our students and staff we are bitterly disappointed that the government have not stood by their commitment to prioritise the re-opening of education following the easing of lockdown. This is despite overwhelming evidence that our university campuses remain Covid secure with minimal outbreaks and risk to the wider community.
They have traded the health and wellbeing of Higher Education students in favour of other parts of the economy in a move that is both nonsensical and deeply disingenuous to the nation’s future workforce, upon whom we will all rely to power the UK’s future.”
