Coventry University uniquely offers the only UK example of a social enterprise set up by a university to promote social entrepreneurship and innovation benefitting the local community.
Formed in 2014 as a spin-out from the University, their remit is to maximise their role as an anchor institution by finding ways of benefiting the local community and achieving true social value. In 2019 they supported the establishment of 15 new social enterprises, the highest ever achieved amongst universities in the UK. Since 2014, they have helped create more than 50 social enterprises spanning multiple industries and sectors including child protection, food and leisure, volunteering, cleaning services and many, many more.
CU Social Enterprise (CUSE) offers businesses with economic and social benefit the opportunity to work with the University whilst also helping to develop the entreprenuerial skills of students, staff and alumni. CUSE has a ready-made environment for developing and nurturing this kind of entrepreneurship, through The Enterprise Hub.
CUSE is recognised as a market leader in incubating social enterprises. They work with the local community and university staff and students to realise their entrepreneurial potential and help them deliver measuarble social impacts.
