To help students whilst self-isolating, Oxford Brookes have set up a comprehensive support service and are continuing to promote its availability. An online reporting form allows students to inform the University that they are going into self-isolation.
In short:
- Students are allocated a case worker, who regularly checks in on the household to check on the welfare of the students, arrange any support as needed and help with the delivery of essential supplies such as food and medication.
- Students requiring emotional support can self-refer directly to the Wellbeing services, which are continuing to operate remotely. Oxford Brookes are continuing to communicate regularly with students to remind them of the wider support services available.
- In addition to the continued work of student support services, the University has partnered with FIKA to put in place free resources for Oxford Brookes’ students. They have promoted this free use of the FIKA Mental Fitness App to students, alongside the free Headspace App.
- Oxford Brookes has also made a donation to Oxford Hub, to support the charity in their efforts to help all members of the community who may be self-isolating.
The range of resources and support services available to all students – including relaxation activities, online meditation sessions and free online coaching – can be found in the Wellbeing Tab on the Oxford Brookes Student Covid-19 landing page.
