Commenting on the HEPI paper Designing a Teaching Excellence Framework: Lessons from other sectors, University Alliance Chief Executive Maddalaine Ansell said:
“This report makes a strong and timely case for a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) built on a strong evidence base and implemented gradually.
“One of University Alliance’s key recommendations in response to the government’s green paper is that the TEF should be introduced in stages. This will allow for proper evaluation of its operation in practice, giving space to make changes or commission further research where required, including on how prospective students can make the most informed choices possible.
“In particular, with the government’s focus on widening participation, we must ensure that the TEF is designed to support, not undermine, the ambitious goals the Prime Minister has set.”
