We run a design competition for the cover of our Christmas cards every year. This year’s theme for the competition was ‘Global’, in line with our international work. The competition was open to staff and students of Alliance universities and participants were asked to provide a 50 word summary of how their design fitted this theme.
The winning entry below was designed by Jennifer Leem-Bruggen, a student on the BA (Hons) Illustration course at University of Hertfordshire.
“From the word ‘Global’ the imagery that comes to mind is of the Earth/world. My research led me to a snow globe, a simple yet effective way of conveying the elements of ‘Global’ and Christmas together. Snow globes convey individual narratives; I portrayed Santa flying around the world at Christmas.”
The runners up were:

Hazel Prior, BA (Hons) Graphic Design, Nottingham Trent University
Bethan Dobson, BA (Hons) Product and Furniture Design, Sheffield Hallam University
As usual, we were very impressed with all of the entries and really value your contribution. We would like to thank all of those for participating in the competition.
Merry Christmas!
